Legislative Update – Representative Dawne Shand

The past three months have been exciting. By securing state investment and advocating for expanded health insurance coverage, the district is seeing economic growth, improved health outcomes, and more stability in our community hospitals. On Beacon Hill, I am proud that the bills I authored are making great progress. Thursday, 3.29.24, Governor Healey signed into law Merrimac's home rule petition expanding the size of its Select Board. As tax season progresses, seniors, renters, and families with young children are beginning to see the benefits of our once-in-a-generation tax bill passed in 2023. And through our advocacy, we were able to secure funding for Amesbury's public boat ramp project with an $840,000 grant that will also create its first harbormaster facility.
